I love talking with people. I learn something new every time. This is why I believe that communication is critical for addressing climate change. Together we can find a way.

Joan Y. H. Nodelman, BSc, BEd, MBA, CRM

Vice President & CFO

Risk and Management Professional

Joan Nodelman has devoted over 40 years working for a cleaner environment.  As a management specialist, Joan promotes smooth, efficient approaches for organizing work. She believes that efficient systems save time and money, reduce operation and maintenance costs, and improve working conditions for both management and staff.  Efficiency also reduces problems in managing our infrastructure, improving our ability to respond effectively to the challenge of climate change.

Consultation and Facilitation

Joan has worked on many Nodelcorp projects as facilitator in workshops, and in person-to-person interviews.  She finds that information from these sessions informs our projects and add additional dimension and context to the data we gather to support our work.  A deeper understanding of all organizational issues helps us provide meaningful recommendations that work within the culture of the organization.

Joan’s major strength is her ability to co-ordinate diverse groups of individuals and stakeholders.  She has applied these skills to projects covering greenhouse gas mitigation, developing the Alberta Specified Gas Emitters Regulation, and subsequent work on greenhouse gas derivative and trading programs.  On the adaptation front, she co-ordinated the formation of the Public Infrastructure Engineering Vulnerability PIEVC advisory group and co-authored the resultant PIEVC assessment tool.

Climate Risk Management and Training

These past projects in both climate change mitigation and adaptation serve as a foundation for her ongoing work on climate change adaptation.  As a risk management professional, she continues to consult on hazard interdependencies between social and engineered systems.  Additionally, she adds her expertise to the development and delivery of Nodelcorp University courses, podcasts, and other products that help improve the lifestyle and productivity of our climate challenged future. As ongoing weather events become more serious and more frequent,  She promotes tools that inform organizations and governments on how to reduce the harm faced by their constituents,  and build better infrastructure and governance frameworks.
